Surrounding countryside of Saint Jean de Cuculles

Picture of surrounding countryside

It is a region of Languedoc garrigue, located between the coastal plain and the “Cévennes” mountains, dominated by the peak of Pic St Loup, it is shared among extensive green scrub oak and pine forests of Aleppo pines and hills planted with vines.

Between the sandy Mediterranean beaches of the Gulf of Lion to the south and the mountainous hinterland of the “Massif de l'Aigoual” north, (30 km from the sea and 50 km from the Mountain), the “terroir” of the Pic St Loup has gained its entire reputation by its high quality AOC wines, it consists of a community of common history, often fortified with Romanesque churches, in the surrounding historic villages of “Les Matelles, Ste Croix de Quintillargues, St Martin and Notre Dame de Londres, St Jean de Cuculles”.
